Date: 2024-05-25
AO: ao-eagles-nest
Q: Wreck-it Ralph , Dovetail
PAX: Squash (Donn Hines), Strat, Croak, Audit, Sandtrap, Wax On FNGs: None
COUNT: 8
WARMUP:
Dovetail took warmup after giving the Pax hints of the fun to come. We did overhead claps, seal claps, Bolt 45s, shoulder taps, and Abe Vagodas.

THE THANG:
Wreck-it Ralph to the first shift and pulled out his Magnificent Monkey Wheel-o-Fun and we got to all sorts of monkey-relayed exercises, including: Monkey-ups
Gorilla humpers
Monkey ups again
Ape squats
Monkey jumpers
Hydraulic monkey humpers
More monkey ups
More 🦍 humpers, but in gorilla cadence
And a few moseys to the privy and back (to rest)

Then it was over to Dovetail and we set up for a F3 take on Capture the Flag. We split into 2 teams (Team Alpha: Wreck-it Ralph, Dovetail, Squash (Donn Hines), and Sandtrap vs Team Pirates: Croak Audit, Wax On, and Strat).

Rules were as follows:
There is a hidden object worth 10 points if returned to a team’s base. Getting the other team’s flag to your base is with 2 points.

At the start of the game, and after every point everyone on both teams has to do a buy-in of 10 perfect merkins 10 side straddle hops and 10 core burners (reverse plank, knee to chest, alternate). After that it’s game on – each team is trying to grab the other team’s flag and return it to their base.

If you get tagged, a lightsaber dual ensues. The winner is free to go. The loser has to do three burpees.

If a duel is started with a flag carrier, the flag is dead until the duel is completed, and the victor gets to take the flag. If you recover your team’s flag, you want to try to get it back to your base.
If you win two lightsaber duels in a row with the same person, they are in jail; you get to take that person prisoner back to your base. They have to hold plank there at the base until a teammate comes and rescues them by tagging them and saying one of the five pillars of F3. Once they’re freed from jail, they yell “freed to lead!” and must to go back to at least the midpoint of the field before they can be back in play.

Turns out CTF is quite the workout! Lightsaber duels were hard-won. Sandtrap scored the first goal and the second one. A civilian noted the treasure (Dovetail’s mug in a tree) but didn’t move it, and none of the players got close enough to find it. Dovetail almost splashed merlot at the end, being pursued by Audit, Strat, and Wax On. Strategy was developed on the fly, it was a good time.
